Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained upon landing at Delhi airport on Saturday, ahead of their planned protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Delhi has been placed under heavy security, with more than 40,000 Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel deployed across the national capital. Barricades and spike strips have also been installed ahead of the protest.
The protest has been called to demand Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The detentions came hours before the planned demonstration, amid heightened security arrangements in the capital.
