At least 11 Indian nationals were injured after a Panama-flagged commercial vessel was hit by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

The vessel, MT On Peace, was carrying 19 crew members, including 17 Indians. Twelve crew members were injured in the incident, of whom 11 were Indian nationals.

The injured crew members were evacuated with assistance from Omani authorities and taken to Khasab in Oman for medical treatment. The remaining crew members are reported to be safe.

India condemned the incident and called for an immediate end to attacks on commercial shipping, stressing the need to ensure the safety of vessels and freedom of navigation through international waterways.
